PKT Percy Jones,
Kenny Grohowsk and Tim Motzer
Masters all, the genre-defying chemistry of PKT is comprised of legendary fretless bassist Percy Jones (Brand X, Eno), sonic guitarist Tim Motzer, and drummer Kenny Grohowski. Front and center is the innovative melodic sonority and approach of Percy Jones. Motzer, ever the atmospheric guitarist, creates dense layers of sounds and melodies utilizing multiple guitars, electronics, bow, and preparations. Kenny Grohowski, a master rhythmatist and one of the major drummers of our time, unfolds the equations and forms that this band unravels. The resulting music contemplates space, time, harmony, and melody, unveiling it in profound new ways. It’s improvisational at heart, with big chunks of composition intertwined.
The influential Percy Jones stands as one of the world’s greatest electric fretless bassists, hailing from Wales, and known for his work with his band Brand X, and masterful work with Phil Collins, Richard Barbieri, Brian Eno (Another Green World, Before and After Science), Jon Hassell, Steve Hackett, David Sylvian and others.
Kenny Grohowski is an internationally renowned drummer, touring and recordings with countless John Zorn projects, Secret Chiefs, Imperial Triumphant, Brand X, Kilter, Felix Pastorius, and others.
Guitarist Tim Motzer has an expansive discography and world touring history working with luminaries David Sylvian, Jaki Liebezeit (CAN, Secret Rhythms), Les Nubians, Ursula Rucker, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pat Mastelotto, David Torn, King Britt, Questlove, and PAKT among others, plus his many projects & releases on his 1k Recordings label.
Like a real-time research and development organism, PKT searches to illuminate and uncover new musical territories and pathways, moving beyond yesterday’s electric jazz, ambient, prog, and electronic sound worlds into a new language.

THE WORD
"(Percy Jones) is first on a very short list of worthy fretless bass players who haven’t been disciples of Jaco. I think any bassist who plays a sliding harmonic phrase should pay a royalty to Percy. He may not have invented that, but he perfected it."
- Chris Clark
"If your ear gravitates to guitarists such as Robert Fripp, Pat Metheny and David Torn, Tim Motzer is your man."
- DOSAGE MAGAZINE
"Guitarist Tim Motzer is an eclecticist by nature, a conjurer of immersive and richly textured sonic environments that he can mold to fit a surprising range of contexts."
- The Key, WXPN-FM
